——— ordered a breakfast, it was well cooked but using the cheapest ingredients going. ——— most of it, the sausages takes synthetic and the hash browns smelt like the fryer hadnt had the oil changed in a long while so i didnt even try them. I also ordered a flat white, its fair to say this isn't a trained barrista cafe. It looked and tasted like a cup of mellow birds instant coffee. The cafe was also freezing, everyone in there had their coats on and all the radiatiors were off, just two heaters placed around the cafe which weren't doing much good in late December. Real shame because the staff were absolutely lovely, the location is great and it could be such a great little cafe.
How Roath cafés answer their Google reviews
In August 2026 we read every reply we could find published by 5 cafés in Roath — 49 of them. This page is what we counted. Nothing on it is estimated, and no business is named.
Replies here run longer than the Cardiff median — 17 words against 14. Longer is not better: past a certain point a reply reads as defensive, and the reader stops. 51% of them touch nothing the reviewer actually wrote.

One Roath review, answered twice
——— ——— you had such a bad expedience I would love to offer your money back here is my number ——— if you could contact me saying what cafe/day/time if you would drop us a message I can call to go over this matter. Many thanks ———
The staff kind words are genuinely appreciated — it matters that they came through even on a visit that didn't go well otherwise. On the breakfast, ingredient quality sits at the centre of what a plate should be, and the flat white is a drink we take seriously; it should be properly extracted and textured, not approximate. The temperature point is noted too.
