How Cathays cafés answer their Google reviews

———. I've been here 3 times now, it says it's open on Google maps but it has been closed. ——— of time.

Hi ——— We closed a bit early because of volunteers being unwell. We're really sorry! We hope that you can forgive us and let us tell you a little bit about us, which might help explain why we've not always been open when you have visited. We think that perhaps if you heard a bit more about us, you'd give us another try so that you can review us based on a visit to our cafe or one of the many events that we hold online and in person. We would love to meet you. As you may or may not know already, all our volunteers and staff are disabled and sometimes we can't help but close because of health or safety reasons. Everyone needs support in our cafe and we have to have enough people who are experienced in the learning or physical disability needs of each volunteer or staff. It's really tough when we're all disabled and many of us have never worked before. We try our best to update everyone on our social media pages if we have to close early or not open at all. ——— we closed for a week to hold emergency community action meetings because we're facing a rent increase of 50% and we had a huge turnout of support. It's an ongoing issue which we couldn't take care of and take care of the cafe at the same time. But we're much more than a cafe... Most of our focus is on creating a workplace that is accepting of people with disabilities, especially autistic and neurodivergent people. We support other businesses and organisations to be more inclusive by providing training, consultation and practical support. We not only provide employment and volunteering opportunities, most of our activities are free to attend and we have people from all over ——— (and beyond) joining us. We even open on Christmas ——— for neurodivergent and/or ———+ who don't have anyone to spend Christmas with. Our paid staff volunteer most of their hours, an incredible and hardworking crew who care deeply about our communities and helping autistic and neurodivergent divergent to survive... Not just survive, but thrive! ——— Cafe is the place for that. It's the only place which exists for us. ——— that all said, I'd like to personally invite you to come and visit, and I will see to it that it's a day that were open. I'd like to treat you to a coffee, tea or drink of your choice - on me! I can show you around and tell you about our projects if you're curious. We could also do with some more volunteers to help us stay open if that's something that you'd be up for helping us out with!
