Hot chocolate was cold twice and price was eye watering. I'd give it a swerve although have somehow heard recommendations. Maybe a bad day but curtains for me first time.
How Merchant City cafés answer their Google reviews
In August 2026 we read every reply we could find published by 7 cafés in Merchant City — 91 of them. This page is what we counted. Nothing on it is estimated, and no business is named.
Replies here run at or below the Glasgow median of 17 words. Short is fine — short and specific is what works. Short and generic is what most of these are. 70% of them touch nothing the reviewer actually wrote.
One Merchant City review, answered twice
——— ———, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re really sorry to hear that your hot chocolate wasn’t up to standard on your visit — it should always be served properly hot, so we apologise that this wasn’t your experience. We appreciate you recognising that it may have been an off day, as this certainly isn’t the level we aim to deliver consistently, and your comments have been shared with the team. We also understand your point on pricing — we always aim to reflect the quality of our ingredients and service, but appreciate it needs to feel right for our customers too. We would genuinely welcome another opportunity so if you’d be happy to do so, please feel free to email us at ——— as we’d really love to arrange a return visit for you to make things right.
Hot chocolate served cold is one we notice ourselves — it should hold its heat from counter to cup. On price, we sit where most independents in this area do, though we understand it doesn't always feel that way. We're sorry the visit didn't reflect what others seem to find here.
